The Challenge

Many mistakes continue to be made in hospitals, for human and nonhuman reasons. For example, often the analysis of test tubes (of blood, urine or stool) cannot be completed successfully. Some times they are lost, other times the quantity and quality of the extracted fluid is not good enough to be analyzed. This happens because hospitals and laboratories do not use a digital test tube management system.

OVERVIEW

The Vision

We believe in a world where healthcare professionals have more time for outstanding patient care, through our sustainable ecosystem setting new standards in the diagnostic sampling process.

Outcomes

New hospitals from France, Germany, Austria and Italy are starting adopting the product.

USER PERSONA

In order to better understand the target audience and their needs, we created a user persona based on insights gained from user interviews, surveys, and market research.

Claudia is a 40-year-old qualified nurse and part-time healthcare worker living in a rural area.

Challenges at work include managing unplanned events, dealing with staff shortages, and lacking modern equipment to ensure smooth workflows. She often finds herself taking on extra shifts or repeating tasks due to inefficient communication or errors in documentation.

Claudia seeks better tools to streamline repetitive tasks, improve communication with doctors, and reduce the manual workload, enabling her to focus more on patient care.

DEFINE

User Flows and Wirerframes

Together with the entire team, during several workshops, we visualized some ideas through more or less detailed user flows and finally created a wireframe for the most voted idea.

We decided that the main flow should guide and physically represent every step the nurse takes in the process of picking up a test tube, going to a specific room, and receiving all the data related to the patient and the sample to be collected.

VALIDATION

User Testing

We tested our ideas with selected GBO customers, despite challenges like limited access to real users and maintaining product confidentiality pre-launch. Usability tests provided valuable feedback, which we used to refine the design and address user needs effectively.

IMPLEMENT

Design System

In order to better understand the target audience and their needs, we created a user persona based on insights gained from user interviews, surveys, and market research.
